Starting today, Nintendo is now offering the latest firmware update on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, which is version 20.5.0.

You may not need us to tell you about this update if you’ve been keeping track of previous ones. That’s because we’re again treated to stability improvements, which keeps in line with tradition. Unfortunately, there’s nothing in the way of new functionality.

  • General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.

Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch owners can both download the update now. It will roll out automatically, but you can install it immediately by visiting the system settings.

One thing we will mention – which we’ve brought up for previous system patches – is that there could be things here that Nintendo doesn’t bring up. You can find previous backwards compatibility fixes here, here, and here.

If we happen to get any further information about today’s update, we’ll pass that along.
