Pokemon Legends: Z-A seems to force autosaves, can’t be disabled

If you were hoping that Pokemon Legends: Z-A would support the ability to turn off autosaves, you might be disappointed to hear that new information indicates otherwise.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A has leaked, and just about all of the information you could possibly ask for is out there right now. We’re not talking about any spoilers today, however – instead, it appears that the newest title in the Pokemon series forces players to keep auto-save on at all times. Indeed, the option to disable autosave doesn’t appear in the settings menu. That isn’t to say that the feature won’t be added via a day one patch or a future update, but at present it looks like everything you do in this game will be permanent in one way or another.

From a casual perspective, forced autosave isn’t a huge deal. However, in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Pokemon Legends: Arceus, you could actually save in front of a Shiny Pokemon – and if you failed to capture it, you could simply reload a save and you would have a second chance. That apparently won’t be possible in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, so if you fail to capture a Pokemon, it might be lost forever.

In recent years, Game Freak has Shiny-locked many static Pokemon, including all of the legendaries in Scarlet and Violet. It’s highly likely that all of Legends Z-A’s legendaries will be Shiny-locked as well, but in case they somehow aren’t, autosave becomes even worse – it may make soft resetting for Shiny Pokemon flat-out impossible. This follows the removal of the Exp. Share in Pokemon Sword and Shield onwards.

Thanks to Centro Leaks for originally posting about this. In the meantime, if you are interested in leaks, you can see some new Mega Evolutions that have emerged here.
