Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch update 21.2.0 out now, patch notes
The latest system update for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch has gone live with version 21.2.0.
If there’s one thing we tend to see with firmware drops, it’s system stability. And you won’t be disappointed – that’s once again what we’re hearing about here. It’s possible that there are some smaller tidbits that fans may datamine later on, but at the end of the day this is a smaller patch.
In any case, here’s the full notice from Nintendo (which is the same for both Switch 2 and Switch):
Nintendo Switch 2 / Switch update version 21.2.0 patch notes
- General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience
This is the first system update for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch in 2026. Previously, version 21.0.1 shipped at the end of November. While that also included stability improvements, it also brought along a couple of specific fixes. You can catch up on the patch notes here.
Most system owners will find that the update will download automatically and then will need to be installed. You can also download it immediately in the system settings.
As for version 21.2.0, we’ll let you know if we hear anything else about the update.
