Much has been made of Nintendo Switch 2’s sales during the holiday period, but with the December 2025 Circana U.S. sales report having just been released, it paints a more positive picture.

Last month, Nintendo Switch 2 led the hardware market in both unit and dollar sales. The same also goes for 2025 as a whole. Thanks to that, the console helped offset year-on-year declines across other platforms.

Total hardware sales for Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States now stand at 4.4 million units. Interestingly, this is almost double the installed base of the original Nintendo Switch on a time-aligned basis.

It’s also encouraging to hear that Nintendo Switch 2 is still the fastest-selling video game hardware platform in tracked history. The system is 35 percent ahead of PlayStation 4’s sales pace after seven months in market.

One other interesting note – the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller was the best-selling accessory of 2025. It had an attach rate to hardware of 24 percent.

This wasn’t the only piece of news from today’s Circana report. You can also find the top 20 best-selling games of the month here.
