FZ: Formation Z confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2

Today, City Connection and Granzella revealed that FZ: Formation Z will be released on Nintendo Switch 2. The two sides are bringing it out on May 21, 2026.

FZ: Formation Z is a side-scrolling robot shooter. This is a completely upgraded version of the 1984 game.

One of the most emblematic titles from Jaleco, Formation Z, is reborn for the modern era as a full remake featuring updated graphics and sound design.

While staying true to the classic gameplay and intuitive controls of switching between Robot and Flight forms, this version introduces brand-new weaponry and actions.

Now, the curtains rise once again on a shivering and exciting return!

The game will be sold both physically and digitally in Japan with the full contents on the cartridge. A limited edition is planned for retailer featuring a plastic figure kit, an early unlock code for the additional unit “R-9Aix Extra Arrow,” a download code for the official soundtrack, and a special box.
