Yoshinao Yamagishi, the development producer for Dynasty Warriors: Origins on Nintendo Switch 2, has spoken about this new version of the hack and slash title.

Speaking with Dengeki Online, Yamagishi acknowledged that Koei Tecmo didn’t initially know it would be possible. to bring the game over. However, the company knew about fan interest in set out to making the port possible.

“There were a lot of fans wanting it released on Nintendo Switch 2, so even before the release of the system we had been working continually on a lot of research and consideration behind the scenes. Dynasty Warriors: Origins was originally a game designed as a Warriors title just for the PS5, so we didn’t really know if it would be possible to make a Switch 2 version, but our wonderful team would surely be able to do something right… so I just completely entrusted everything else to them (laughs).

Thanks to the work done on the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, the game is very similar to the PS5 version. Although the frame rate was cut back and the graphics were adjusted, you’re getting the same number of soldiers here.

Yamagishi said the following when further speaking about the port:

“When we just ported the game straight to the Nintendo Switch 2, we weren’t satisfied with the performance and so it became a question of knowing what needed adjusting and how. One part of the appeal of Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the gameplay experience of ‘armies as far as you can see’, so to ensure that was possible on the Nintendo Switch 2, and to prioritize the stability of the game, we reduced the framerate from 60 to 30. Beyond that, through continual and steady optimization we were able to make the Nintendo Switch 2 version a reality.”

Dynasty Warriors: Origins can be purchased now on Nintendo Switch 2. You can head on over here for our review of the game.
