Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now Japan’s best-selling physical game of all time
Animal Crossing: New Horizons set another record within the past few days, and it has now become the best-selling physical game of all time in Japan.
Famitsu reported today that for the week of December 16, another 15,536 copies were sold at retail. That brings the game’s total physical sales to 8,008,343. No other game in Japan has ever managed to reach that mark – Pokemon Red and Greed previously held the record having sold 7.93 million copies. If digital sales were included, the number for Animal Crossing: New Horizons would definitely be much higher.
Worldwide, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has sold over 46 million copies. It is the second best-selling game on Nintendo Switch – only Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has sold more at over 64 million units.
