Bandai Namco Studio 2 and Studio S

November 13: Bandai Namco has officially established Studio 2 and Studio S for commissioned projects, and the news actually has significant relevance when it comes to Nintendo.

Thus far these teams have worked on games that were all been made in partnership with the Big N. The list includes Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, Mario Sports Superstars, Mario Kart Tour, ARMS, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

It seems that Bandai Namco’s Studio 2 and Studio S teams aren’t necessarily locked into Nintendo projects. However, new job listings have gone up and most include a note about developing consumer commissioned by Nintendo.

Given how close the two companies have been over the past several years, it makes sense for that relationship to continue. It also wouldn’t be surprising for Bandai Namco to be involved in the making of a new Smash Bros. game if that were to happen down the road. Right now we can only speculate about potential future projects, but Nintendo is likely to play an important part.

December 19: A few notable job listings have surfaced. First is a 3D action game that seems related to the project reported on in April 2022. There’s also been a listing for a designer who would be involved with things like stage specifications and level designs for side-view action games. Further details are unknown at this time.
