Broken Sword creator says “Switch has gone beyond the hardcore Nintendo fans to a mainstream audience”
Broken Sword will be back on Nintendo platforms with this month’s release of Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse on Switch. At Gamescom last month, MCV spoke with series creator Charles Cecil about bringing the game over and more.
Speaking about why the time is right for Broken Sword 5 on Switch, Cecil mentioned that the fans had been requested it. Additionally, he says that the platform “has gone beyond the hardcore Nintendo fans to a mainstream audience”.
Cecil stated:
“The fans quite rightly pointed out that it’s an ideal platform for an adventure. The Switch has gone beyond the hardcore Nintendo fans to a mainstream audience, we feel that now is the ideal time to bring an adventure to the platform – as we did for Broken Sword: Director’s Cut on Wii and DS.”
On Broken Sword 5 for Switch, Barton noted that touchscreen and Joy-Con controls will be included. After focus tests were done, some preferred playing one way over the other, so both are in. Barton added that “The user interface allows play to seamlessly switch between Joy-Con and touchscreen.”
