Today, Bandai Namco announced Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters for Nintendo Switch. The title launches in 2026.

The new project, made by Tamsoft, “turns soccer matches into thrilling, unexpected battles where players can now unleash super moves for everything from dribbling and tackling to passing and shots on goal.” It features 22 national teams, over 110 playable characters, and more than 150 new moves.

Here’s some additional information:

Based on the long-running anime and manga series, Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters invites players from around the globe to follow their journey to victory by creating their own character and joining Tsubasa on his quest. Players will forge new friendships, fight new rivals, and bring the trophy back home.

Action on the field has been significantly enhanced for this new release. The Super Action Soccer gameplay chains together superhuman plays to create unforgettable matches and action-packed sequences, allowing players to dominate the field when they pass, dribble, tackle or block with their own special techniques. Even blocking goal shots becomes more tactical with a new system that pits goalkeeper against shooter, letting both players experience and counter jaw dropping super shots and blocks from characters of the original series. As a nod to fans of the series, Tadayoshi Makino reprises his role from the previous Captain Tsubasa game as the sound composer, with 80+ new BGM tracks for the upcoming title.
