3DS

Dead or Alive: Dimensions was one of the few early third-party 3DS titles to offer a valuable experience. Team Ninja added in online play, ongoing SpotPass support, and a bunch of game modes.

Even though it featured a great deal of content, Dimensions’ sales performance was disappointing for the studio. Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi didn’t reveal specific numbers, but he did mention that he had “hoped people would be playing more portable consoles out there”.

Hayashi said:

“We believe we squeezed pretty much all of the horsepower out of the 3DS that we could have, really. In the performance sense we believe it was a great title. We hoped people would be playing more portable consoles out there but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.”

Could Mario Tennis Open be the final name for the new Mario Tennis game? GameFly seems to think so.

The retailer has added a listing for the title along with a May 20 release date.

Not much is known about the next Mario Tennis project. It was announced during the Nintendo 3DS Conference 2011 late last year. At the time of its reveal, President Satoru Iwata was only willing to confirm gyroscope support and a vague 2012 time frame for launch.

Most had assumed that Square Enix’s Theatrhythm Final Fantasy would be the first 3DS product to introduce paid DLC in Japan. As it turns out, this was not the case.

Nintendo has made new content available for Tobidasu Print Club Kiradeco Revolution, the company’s photo editing tool. Users can purchase the Mario Kart 7 Set, Spring Trial Set and Mario Basic Set for 100 yen each. All three downloads feature frames, backgrounds, and stamps.
