The Outrageous and Magical Mayhem of the Warner Brothers Motion Picture Comes to Handheld This August in Europe

Majesco Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: COOL), an innovative provider of video games for the mass market, today announced Shorts for Nintendo DS™. This entertaining puzzle platform game brings to life the highly-anticipated Warner Bros. theatrical release of the same name. Written and directed by Robert Rodriguez (The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl, Spy Kids) the Shorts film features a high-profile cast that includes Leslie Mann, William H. Macy, Jon Cryer and James Spader. Developed by Artificial Mind & Movement, the Shorts videogame is expected to release in Europe this August.

In Shorts, a magical rainbow rock that grants wishes brings chaos to the peaceful suburbs. Players take on the role of four of their favourite characters from the movie—Toe Thompson, Nose Noseworthy, Loogie Short and Helvetica Black—as they work to return the community of Black Falls to normalcy by fixing wishes-gone-wrong. Each character has his own special jump and unique ability that helps when fighting off a multitude of enemies, including booger monsters, bomb shooting crocodiles, poison spitting snakes, bats and sparking robots!

Haarlem, The Netherlands – 22 June 2009 – Up and coming videogame publisher Iceberg Interactive today announced that it has further extended its relationship with videogame developer WhiteBear Studios by acquiring the worldwide publishing rights to Bee Smart for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi. Bee Smart will also be available for the PC as was previously announced.

Bee Smart, an innovative and engaging brain training game geared for a younger audience. Bee Smart brings a unique approach to learning, educating and training one’s brain through videogames. Bee Smart provides an active, fun and stimulating environment where kids (and adults!) can learn and discover new and familiar fun challenges. Over time, this will improve certain brain activities, such as hand eye coordination and memory training.

I usually tend to stay away from news directly unrelated to Nintendo platforms, but I thought that this was pretty significant. Rockstar announced today that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be heading to the PSP later this year. This obviously means that the title is no longer a DS exclusive. I’m just wondering how the touchscreen controls will be changed for the PSP version. And also, why was this move made in the first place? Perhaps to increase sales of the title?
