Players Protect Nature, Rescue People and Help Pokémon in Need

REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 10, 2008 – The new Pokémon™ Ranger: Shadows of Almia action-adventure game for Nintendo DS™ launches today and lets players capture Pokémon in a fun, new way: by circling them on the touch screen with a “Capture Styler.” Capturing a Pokémon allows players to use its abilities to overcome various obstacles and challenges they face along the way. As the game progresses the stylus-controlled Capture Styler is upgraded with new abilities.

“The first Pokémon games launched in the United States more than 10 years ago, and new fans are created every day,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “To date, the Pokémon franchise has sold more than 60 million games in the United States. Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia gives fans new challenges and new adventures.”

ATARI ANNOUNCES HEART-POUNTING PLATFORMER ‘THE CHASE: FELIX MEETS FELICITY’ FOR NINTENDO DS

Run, Dash and Rush Using the Stylus to Make Your Date in Atari’s Innovative Platformer

LYON, FRANCE – 10 November 2008 – Atari brings a fresh approach to platforming on Nintendo DS™ with The Chase: Felix Meets Felicity, the fast-paced game in which players navigate their way through bizarre obstructions, interruptions and mishaps, using the stylus to draw a path to the object of their affection. The Chase: Felix Meets Felicity is scheduled for release in February 2009 exclusively on Nintendo DS.

Join in the adrenaline rush by jumping in the shoes of Felix or Felicity to race across town in time to rendezvous. To make it unscathed, players need to deftly navigate a series of obstacle-laden environments without ever letting up the break-neck pace. Run, jump, dodge and slide through hectic scenarios while desperately trying to stay ahead of the clock and rainy weather. The pick-up-and-play gameplay makes ingenious use of the Nintendo DS stylus to draw platforms to climb and hop across, dodging difficult barriers and any cold-hearted misanthropes who get in the way.

Wii to DS connectivity has been a largely underwhelming aspect of Nintendo’s two systems, as it has yet to be truly utilized. However, Personal Trainer: Walking, a new title which was recently made available in Japan, will attempt to change that by allowing users to transfer Mii characters between their Wii and DS.

A little unknown (for the most part) gem is DS connectivity that the Mii Channel already supports. By hitting the A, B, 1, and then 2 buttons, the the Wii will look for a nearby DS to connect to. This feature actually has been available on the channel for quite some time, but for some reason or another, has been more or less ignored. By pressing the sequence of buttons, Personal Trainer: Walking will then allow you to transfer Miis from your Wii to a DS. Pretty neat, huh?

Castlevania Judgment hasn’t been released just yet, but Koji Igarashi, head honcho on the game, is already willing to discuss a sequel. Igarashi said, “If this proves to be highly successful, a sequel is highly possible. It’ll be a shame to quit after just one try? A DS version might be possible, too.” A DS version could be interesting, no doubt, but the first game will need to sell well.

Igarashi also explored the idea of a 2D Wii/WiiWare Castlevania title, noting “I am very interested in the option. I truly hope that the 2D market will be revitalised. I need your support to do that.”

“No matter what kind of music, if we tried to do this in other countries it would be very difficult. Therefore, we are currently researching what would be required and what allowed in each region and individual country. If we find an agreeable answer, we certainly want to develop. If we could somehow put together a good deal with one particular music label, it would somewhat reduce the number of choices available [to players], but I believe we could create a game that still offers a variety of possibilities.” – Satoru Iwata

So, Nintendo is willing to localize Band Bros DX, but they aren’t interesed in bringing over Disaster: Day of Crisis? Well, at least Band Bros DX is a great game!
