SEGA deploys super-widget to showcase first Sonic Role Play Game
Posted on 16 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 1 Comment
Digital creative agency Collective today launches an innovative “game-training” widget for the upcoming SEGA title Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood™.
The widget release, distributed by SEGA through a title-specific webpage, will prepare users for the global launch of the new game on Nintendo DS, which is scheduled to appear later in September. The widget incorporates a series of Flash games to help familiarise users with the environments, game play, characters and other elements of Sonic’s first ever Role Play Game (RPG).
SEGA will deploy its own seeding team to enhance the viral effect of the widget using the Clearspring Technologies’ distribution platform for the launch. In Europe, initially the UK, Germany and France are the primary market targets. Social networking sites such as Bebo, Piczo and the French-focussed Skyrock will be primary sites for the seeding campaign. The game widget will also be seeded through SEGA sites in the US and Australia.

Learn about the strong minded protagonists of Luminous Arc 2
September 24, 2008
Sixteen years ago a strange species of animal appeared in the Kingdom of Carnava. Beast Fiends, as they’re known, were monstrous creatures, attacking settlements and causing death and destruction in their wake. Master Mattias, leader of the Magic Association, a group that ensured the kingdom’s magic was never used for evil, took it upon himself to save the world from the threat of the Beast Fiends. The ensuing battle shook the ground for hundreds of miles around, and when the dust settled, the Beast Fiends had been stopped… but Mattias was dead.
Since Mattias’ death the Beast Fiends have slowly begun to reappear. Additionally, the rogue Shadow Frost Witch, Fatima, threatens to tip the balance of power in her favor by waging a private war against the Magic Association known as the Witch Conflict. When a young Knight named Roland is imbued with the power of magic through an accident at the kingdom’s Magic Technology labs, he is thrust into conflict with the Beast Fiends and the Witch Fatima as the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

Mama moving her act from the kitchen to the garden

Cooking Mama has seen huge success on the Wii and DS, but it looks like Mama is ready to temporarily retire her chef hat and move on to the outside world – more specifically, the garden. The latest issue of Famitsu has an article up on Gardening Mama. This game will be heading back to the DS and will be releasing in Japan this Winter. Unfortunately, there is no news on North American or European dates as of yet.
Nintendo didn’t want Rockstar to make a GTA for kids
Posted on 16 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 0 comments
“No one disagreed with Sam [Houser, Rockstar president and Dan’s brother]’s very clear edict that GTA has to be an M rating. It can’t be softened to make it family-friendly – that’s not the game we’re making. We’ve never not done well by sticking to our guns. Nintendo wanted us to make GTA, and we wanted to make a game on their platform. They didn’t want us to make a GTA for kids, and we weren’t interested in making a game we wouldn’t normally make.” – Dan Houser
Personally, I can’t see any GTA game as family-friendly since the subject matter is much too mature for children. How could Rockstar possibly make Chinatown Wars for kids, even if they wanted to? I’d imagine that’d be a difficult task in itself.
