Another Sonic Boom interview, more details
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 1 Comment
Details rounded up from the interview above include:
- The Wii U GamePad will be used to display a map and upgrades, as well as another function which is yet to be unveiled
- The game follows an adventure style with currency and upgrades for the characters
- The game is more “organically” challenging, in that difficulty arises from skill in combat and finding hidden secrets as opposed to enemies just becoming tougher
- All the levels in the game are connected by the story and its locations
- You will mainly use two characters at a time during gameplay, but all four will show up in hubs and boss fights
- There will be points in the game where you are required to use a certain character to proceed
- The game will be very character driven, with a lot of focus put onto each individual character and their unique abilities
- We will “definitely” be seeing other characters from the Sonic series making an appearance – these will be revealed over the coming months
- Inspiration is being taken from Sonic 2, Sonic Adventure, and Sonic Generations

Soraya Saga retweets today’s Nintendo Direct news
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 29 Comments
Update 3: Masahiro Sakurai has now retweeted the announcement. Make of that what you will!
Update 2: Davis has now clarified that his tweet was posted without any knowledge of tomorrow’s proceedings. At least that’s one “mystery” solved!
Update: I’ll also mention in passing that the Nintendo Direct news has been retweeted by a couple of folks at PlatinumGames, and Next Level Games’ Brian Davis has also posted about the presentation. I’m not too sure how much we should read into Davis’ tweet, but it’s interesting to see that two prominent Platinum staffers have retweeted the Nintendo Direct announcement.
Original: Does the title above seem similar? It should. When Soraya Saga (Tetsuya Takahashi’s wife) last retweeted news regarding Nintendo Direct, it was for Nintendo’s E3 2013 presentation – and when we last saw “X”.
Saga has once again retweeted news about Nintendo Direct, this time for tomorrow’s broadcast. It’s sparking speculation that X will be making an appearance during the upcoming presentation.
Nintendo did say earlier that tomorrow’s event will focus on games releasing before the end of spring. But perhaps they’ll take the time to show a new trailer for X as well? Maybe, maybe not. Keep those expectations in check, as Nintendo hasn’t specifically mentioned which titles will be shown.

Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 3 Comments
There hasn’t been much Wii U news coming out of Japan these days, but this week’s Famitsu does have a release date for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
Leaks indicate that the title will be available for Wii U and PS3 on May 15. Pricing is set at 6,980 yen. The latest leaks don’t mention any of Transformed’s other versions such as 3DS.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed originally launched for Wii U on November 18, 2012, so this has been a long time coming for Japan.

In case there was any doubt that the Smash Bros. series’ iconic and deadly Home-run bat would be featured in the latest instalment, director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed the return of the item with the following message on Miiverse:
Pic of the day. The Home-run Bat in this game is black! And it’s so powerful that your eyes might bug out!!
