Square Enix looking to make their new engine compatibile with Wii/3DS

Square Enix is currently developing a powerful, brand new engine – the Luminous Engine – that’s far off in the distance. The first technology demo will be shown in late 2012 or 2013, though the wait for its full completion will take even longer.
By the time Square Enix wraps up development, the Wii will be long gone as gamers will have moved on to Wii U. In spite of this, Square Enix is still apparently looking to make the engine compatible with Nintendo’s current console as well as the 3DS. Luminous will work with any system that can implement programmable shaders, so I’m sure it won’t be too difficult for the team to make the engine work on Wii U as well.

No Sonic CD for WiiWare due to restrictions

Sonic CD was announced for practically every digital download platform earlier this week. As expected, WiiWare was left out of the mix.
SEGA simply said that there are restrictions that prevented the project from happening. I’m sure a big factor is the WiiWare file size limit. It’d probably be difficult to cram the game into 40 megabytes.
GamesRadar posted this earlier today:
“In an excuse that carries a whiff of that old ‘the SNES doesn’t have the technology to render blood’ chestnut, Sega has explained that the WiiWare platform lacks the chops necessary to replicate the CD-quality sound of the technologically-mindblowing-circa-1993 original – so, no Sonic CD for Wii owners.”
