IGN’s description of the Wii 2 controller

Although the latest Nintendo Voice Chat podcast didn’t bring in any new rumors about the Wii’s successor, IGN’s Rich George did admit that their mockup image of the system’s controller wasn’t exactly spot on. According to George, the mockup is “slightly inaccurate.” Here’s how the controller was described on the podcast:
– 6 inch touchscreen placed between grips
– Grips have one or two analog sticks
– Two are more likely since it’s supposedly GameCube compatible
– Some face buttons
– Some triggers
– IGN took a touchscreen and slapped it on a Classic Controller Pro, which is a little different from what IGN is hearing
– A lot of people are referring to it as an iPad set in the middle of a controller
– Rich thinks this is also slightly inaccurate since an iPad is sort of its own device, can play games on its own
– The Wii 2 controller, however, is like a shell that receives data from the console
Project CafĂ© “images”

I don’t believe that these are real any more than I believe that Miyamoto will show up at my house and personally ferry me away to E3 to play the ‘Wii 2’, but SOMEONE is saying they’re real, and I think they’re interesting enough to post! Even if Valay does hate all these baseless rumors… đ
What would you guys think of this sort of design for Project Café?
Wii 2 Rockstar/GTA V rumors, other speculation

I came really, really close to not posting this since I personally don’t believe it’s happening, but I thought I might as well add it here for the sake of completion. And yes, the source is from the same website that leaked the NGP specs (we’ve told you about that before). I’m still having trouble believing the following, though…
– Rockstar has a dev kit
– Company is making GTA V, won’t be a Wii 2-exclusive
– Rockstar would like to have the game ready for launch
– Late 2012 launch
– Tech demos and some games will be shown at E3 in June
As always, you should take these rumors with a huge grain of salt. Hopefully we’ll get clarification on a few things if Nintendo says anything about the console at their investor’s meeting next week.
Even more got dang Project Café teases, this time from Nintendo Life

Good ol’ Twitter is always the host of teases these days, and Project CafĂ© is no exception. Here’s a summary of what Nintendo Life has had to say about the new hardware:
“All we can say so far is: donât believe everything you read online. Other than from us, of course. May hear solid details next week⊔
In addition, they basically seem to discredit the name ‘Project CafĂ©’ and say that it would be stupid for Nintendo to have a touch screen on their controller. Or perhaps they’re hinting that the DS will be the controller. I don’t even know anymore…
“Nintendo is a Japanese company. Why would a secret project have a French name?”
“Nintendo has sold more handheld consoles than anyone. Why have a controller with a screen in? Why not use DS?”
After one of their tweety bird followers asked them how significant the details they knew were, all Nintendo Life had to say was this:
âSignificant enough that we canât reveal what they are.â
And lastly, look at this conversation between their tweety bird and some tweety bird follower of theirs:
Note: Nintendo annual investor’s meeting next week

Looking for more news about Project CafĂ©? Well, we may just have the answer for you. Next week is Nintendo’s annual investor’s meeting, and pretty much every year we get new information out of it, so I would be surprised if there wasn’t at least a mention of this “Project CafĂ©” nonsense that everyone is all hot and bothered about.
Watch out for it on April 25th!
