Cross-play not initially planned for Overwatch on Switch

Overwatch will not support cross-play on Switch – at least not at launch. Engadget confirmed the news through a statement provide by Engadget.

That statement reads:

“We’ve seen how compelling cross-system play can be for our community, and we’re excited about the potential. There’s still a lot of work to do on both our side and the platforms’ side to determine whether this is something that makes sense for Overwatch, and we’re keeping an eye on how cross-play systems and technology develop.”

We’ll also briefly mention here that there will not be a true physical version of Overwatch on Switch. If you’ve seen the boxart we already posted, you likely saw that the box will only come with a full game download.
