Diablo 4 dev says Nintendo Switch 2 version is “something to look at”

Although there haven’t been any announcements, Blizzard is leaving the door open to Diablo 4 on Nintendo Switch 2.

Rod Fergusson, who is overseeing the franchise, has said that porting it over is “something to look at”. It seems that the hardware itself is not the issue – rather, it’s about ensuring that the system 2 can fully support live services.

Fergusson said the following in an interview regarding the possibility of Diablo 4 on Nintendo Switch 2:

“I think there’s an opportunity there for sure. I mean you have Diablo 3 and Diablo 2: Resurrected on Switch and with backwards compatibility they’ll be playable on Switch 2. It’s nice Switch 2 has the performance that can run a game like Diablo 4, so yeah, it’s something to look at for sure. I think that the challenge is less around the hardware and just about how we – live services on Switch have been a little bit challenging in the past, and so I’m hopeful that as they launch this June and as we look to the future that becomes easier and easier so it makes more sense to put a live service on the platform.”

As mentioned above, Diablo 2 and 3 will both be playable on Nintendo Switch 2. Given the success of those games as well as the new mouse feature on the upcoming console, a port would certainly make sense.

Xbox, which owns Activision Blizzard, has not yet actually announced any games for Nintendo Switch 2 yet. However, it’s rumored that there’ll be lots of support to come.
