EA acquires Super Mega Baseball developer Metalhead Software
Over the past few years, Metalhead Software has been making new entries in its sports series Super Mega Baseball, with the latest two games available on Switch. It’s now been announced that Electronic Arts has acquired the studio.
Today’s press release states that EA Sports and Metalhead will be working together “to grow the Super Mega Baseball franchise as well as develop new gaming and sports experiences for players worldwide.” The developer will remain at its Victoria, BC studio.
Cam Weber, EA Sports EVP and GM, said of the acquisition:

It’s a unique and beloved franchise among sports gamers – the balance and depth of gameplay, and the unique style of the content, makes it super fun to play with friends. We look forward to supporting and investing in the team so they can continue to build out more amazing games that delight sports fans around the world. EA Sports continues to expand, and we’re deeply excited to create more unique and interactive experiences that blur the lines between sports and entertainment.”
Metalhead Software co-founder Scott Drader added:

Super Mega Baseball 2 and 3 are both currently available on the Switch eShop.
