Original (5/2): Publisher EA Sports and developer Metalhead Software today announced Super Mega Baseball 4, the latest entry in the sports series. It will release for Switch on June 2, 2023.
For the first time in the series, fans can play with over 200 larger-than-life legendary baseball professionals like David “Big Papi” Ortiz, Jose Bautista, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and more right alongside Super Mega League All Stars. Ortiz will be the franchise’s first ever cover athlete.

A pretty big 1.7.0 update rolled out recently for Super Mega Baseball 3 on Switch. It comes with new Online Leagues features, many improvements, and a ton of fixes.

EA acquires Super Mega Baseball developer Metalhead Software

Over the past few years, Metalhead Software has been making new entries in its sports series Super Mega Baseball, with the latest two games available on Switch. It’s now been announced that Electronic Arts has acquired the studio.
Today’s press release states that EA Sports and Metalhead will be working together “to grow the Super Mega Baseball franchise as well as develop new gaming and sports experiences for players worldwide.” The developer will remain at its Victoria, BC studio.

A big 1.6.0 update has gone live for Super Mega Baseball 3. It includes a new Practice Mode, Player Career stats and historical season data in Franchise Mode, improvements, and fixes.

Metalhead Software today announced that sometime after Super Mega Baseball 3 launches, the game will be updated with Custom Pennant Race. This online mode lets players organize a private cross-platform Pennant Race and invite friends to participate. Up to 32 total users are supported.
