EA Sports FC 24 on Switch has all modes, EA says it’s a “big project” and “huge achievement”
EA’s John Shepherd has discussed the Switch version of EA Sports FC 24, and confirmed that it will include all modes. This is in stark contrast to what we saw out of the FIFA titles on Nintendo’s platform in previous years.
Speaking with IGN, Shepherd said the Switch version will be “comparable” to the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. He said:
“It’s going to have all the modes. It’s more representative of the Xbox One, PS4 gameplay, than it would be the PlayStation 5, latest-gen gameplay. There are a few differences, just because of the hardware, but the game’s running great.”
Shepherd would go on to say that the Switch version has been “a big project.” EA spent years getting the game running well on the hardware. Additionally, a cross-department effort was needed and support from EA’s Frostbite team was involved.
Shepherd stated:
“That’s been multiple years, just trying to get that working really nicely on Switch. We were reviewing it with Nintendo not too long ago. Everyone’s really excited about it. It was a collaboration not just with FC, but across EA. We had to get a lot of Frostbite support to get everything working on Switch. It’s a huge achievement, honestly.”
One thing worth mentioning is that EA Sports FC 24 won’t support cross-play on Switch. However, given where FIFA was previously, this is overall a big step up.
You’ll be able to play EA Sports FC 24 on September 29, 2023.
