Thanks to the latest data from GSD, the best-selling games of 2023 have been revealed.
EA Sports FC 24 came out on top despite selling 9 percent fewer units in 2023 compared with FIFA 23 in 2022. Hogwarts Legacy followed in second – no game has sold this many units in a calendar year since 2017 aside from EA’s football/soccer titles.
As far as Nintendo games go, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder are at #7 and #9 respectively. Both are accounted for without digital sales since Nintendo doesn’t provide data, so they could have ended up higher. Zelda would be #3 and Mario would be placed at #4 if we only consider physical data for all titles.
As another tidbit, Switch was third for platforms in terms of game sales, behind PC and PS5 but ahead of PS4 and Xbox Series S and X. Switch was the second best-selling console, but sales were down 10 percent year-on-year.
