F-Zero 99 update announced (version 1.1.0) with Classic Race
Nintendo has announced a major update for F-Zero 99, with version 1.1.0 set to add Classic Race as a new mode.
Classic Race has a few elements to it but is essentially designed to replicate the original SNES experience with smaller courses. It’ll come with the same screen ratio as the original, offers a total of 20 racers, and limits things to one Boost per lap. Additionally, the Skyway, spin move, and filling the meter by taking down opponents are all disabled.
There’ll also be a “Lucky Cards” feature, which is essentially a way to earn experience, tickets, and more. This is dependent on finishing five races, and if your rankings match what’s on the card, you’ll be given the extra prizes. Other little improvements and adjustments are planned. We’ll share the patch notes when they’re available.
Here’s a look at everything that’s on the way:

It also sounds like Nintendo will be further promoting F-Zero 99 with a Nintendo Switch Online mission. Those that finish the race can earn 100 Platinum Points on My Nintendo.
The F-Zero 99 update will go live on November 28 in North America and November 29 in Europe.
