GTA Trilogy Grove Street credits removal response

Grove Street Games, the original developer behind Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, has responded to being removed from the credits.

Rockstar issued a significant update for each of the titles this week. But aside from the improvements, it was discovered that Grove Street Games is no longer credited on the initial boot screen. While the company wasn’t involved more recently, Grove Street did work on the original console release.

Below is the statement from Grove Street Games CEO Thomas Williamson about the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition credits removal:

“Speaking entire hypothetically: It’s a dick move to remove primary developers from credits in an update, especially when an update includes hundreds of fixes that were provided by those developers that stayed out of players’ hands for years.”

You’d have to think that this was intentional rather than an oversight. However, Rockstar could always end up adding Grove Street back in a future patch. If the company provides a response of its own, we’ll let you know.

As for that update, Rockstar is now offering a Classic Lighting mode which restores the look and feel of the sky in the original games. We have more coverage of it including patch notes here.
