Aloy Horizon Smash Bros

Now that a Nintendo console is getting a game in PlayStation’s Horizon series, that’s leading some to think about whether we could see Aloy – the leading hero of the franchise – in a Smash Bros. entry. Guerrilla Games does at least appear to be interested in seeing that happen.

Kotaku recently caught up with Guerrilla Games franchise development lead producer Tim Symons to talk about the just-announced LEGO Horizon Adventures. That’s where the question about Smash Bros. comes in.

When asked about the possibility of joining Aloy in Smash Bros., Symons stated to Kotaku: “That’d be nice. If you speak to Nintendo and they want to invite us let me know.”

Back in the day, Smash Bros. used to be for Nintendo characters only. However, as the series has gone on, we’ve seen more and more third-party characters enter the fray. Sonic the Hedgehog in Super Smash Bros. Brawl started it all, but since then we’ve also since seen the likes of Mega Man, Pac-Man, Cloud, Minecraft’s Steve, Banjo & Kazooie, and even Kingdom Hearts’ Sora join the battle. There was once a time when fans felt certain characters coming to Smash Bros. would be impossible, but we may now be beyond that point.

As for Aloy in Smash Bros., is that something you’d like to see? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.

LEGO Horizon Adventures will be out on Switch this holiday. Catch up on last week’s announcement of the game here.
