How to get Mega Raichu X and Y in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC is out now, and of course it introduces a whole bunch of brand-new Mega Evolutions. But we already know about Mega Raichu X and Y, and in the interest of not spoiling the new Mega Evolutions, we’re starting out our guide coverage with how to get the Raichunite X and Raichunite Y items. In order to access the associated side quest, you’ll need to play through the game until a side mission wormhole appears within in the shopping district at the very north-middle end of Lumiose City. You’ll also need to have completed Side Missions #2 and #108, which require that you trade NPCs a Pikachu and a Raichu, respectively.
Mega Raichu X and Y locations
To start, both Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y are pure Electric-type, so their types don’t change at all. Mega Raichu X’s stat spread is 60/135/95/90/95/110. For those of you who aren’t super into the stat side of things, this means that Mega Raichu X is a physical attacker with increased Defense and Special Defense compared to a regular Raichu. Unfortunately, even with 95 Defnese and 95 Special Defense, Mega Raichu X is still frail and will almost always go down to a Ground-type move. Mega Raichu Y has more pronounced strengths, with a stat spread of 60/100/55/160/80/130. This means Mega Raichu Y is a special attacker, and it’s a fairly strong one at that. It’s also got a boosted Speed stat, but its defenses are left unchanged compared to a normal Raichu. If you’d like your Raichu to use physical attacks (the best ones are probably Thunder Punch, Dig for its invincibility period, Drain Punch, and Play Rough), go with Mega Raichu X. If you want your Raichu using special moves (Nasty Plot, Thunderbolt, Surf, and either Dazzling Gleam or Focus Blast are your best bets), go for Mega Raichu Y.
Once you’ve cleared the side missions we mentioned earlier, enter that wormhole in the north shopping district. The two NPCs you helped out will reveal they can Mega Evolve your Raichu, and you will have to fight both of them at the same time with just one Pokemon. They’re Level 115, and they’re still very frail even when Mega Evolved. If you have a Level 100 Pokemon with Earthquake (not Gyarados due to its quadruple Electric weakness), that’ll likely do the trick without much problems.
In the meantime, we plan to make some more guides for Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s DLC in the near future. Rest assured, spoilers will not be contained in the title, featured image, or intro paragraph for any of these guides. You can learn more about the DLC over at Nintendo’s official website.
