Kirby and the Forgotten Land GDC 2023 developer session announced
Nintendo games have been represented at GDC over the years with a few developer panels, and we’ll be seeing this again in 2023 as part of a session dedicated to Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The same event will also touch on Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe “and how they reimagined the 2D gameplay and the world of the multiplayer Wii classic.”
Shinya Kumazaki and Tatsuya Kamiyama will both be in attendance. During the session, the two will be “discussing Kirby and the Forgotten Land one year after its release – looking at how they brought traditional Kirby gameplay into a 3D world, as well as examining some of the new features in the game, including the fan-favorite Mouthful Mode.” The event “is for any game developers interested in the history and legacy of one of the cutest (and most adaptable!) characters in video game history, as well as where Kirby and their series are headed in the future.”
Nintendo sessions at GDC have given us some notable information over the years. For instance, at a 2017 panel, we heard that a 2D prototype was made to test out ideas for Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
GDC 2023 returns to San Francisco between March 20 and March 24, 2023. You’ll need to pay to be a part of it, but we may get some snippets from the Kirby and the Forgotten Land session by those in attendance.
