Kirby Star Allies dev on the newest Dream Friends

Posted on November 24, 2018 by (@NE_Brian) in News, Switch

In less than a week, the next big update for Kirby Star Allies will be going live. Nintendo and HAL Laboratory are adding in a new wave of Dream Friends and more.

In a news post this week, level design director Yuki Endo spoke about the upcoming Dream Friends in greater detail. Here’s what he shared:

Hello and bonjam!

Yuki Endo from HAL Laboratory here. I’m the level design director for Kirby Star Allies.

The third free update is finally coming out on Friday 30th November, and today I’m going to introduce you to the new Dream Friends you’ll meet in it!

Magalor

A fibbing magician who made his debut in Kirby’s Return to Dreamland, this inveterate Kirby-tormentor will now be available as a playable character. He can put up a heroic fight with magic alone, but his specialty is the sneaky tricks he has up his sleeve!

Watch out in particular for his Ultra Sword! Does his power come stolen from the crown that he’s hidden away somewhere, or has he stolen it from Kirby? Either way, enjoy it!

Taranza

The little swot who kidnapped King Dedede is here from Kirby: Triple Deluxe! His strategy is to trap enemies in strands of his magical webs and use other techniques that remain active for a certain time, making him a tricky one to fight.

His favorite move is Darling Dreamstalk. The Dreamstalk will remain in place for a while after the move is used, so with the Dreamstalk as a shield, he’s free to hurl a Super Taranza Ball from a safe distance!

Susie

The scientific weapon from Kirby: Planet Robobot enters the fray! It’s Susie, the presidential assistant of the Haltmann Works Company.

She fights with the H.W.C. Blaster and the power of science, or she can Business Suit Up in the Business Suit that’s brought so much misery to Kirby. The Business Suit has great defensive powers, and its clanging march of progress is relentless.

That’s all we really had planned for you, but I actually have some more special news to share.

The Three Mage-Sisters

Newsflash! Someone else is entering the fight! It’s the lovely Three Mage-Sisters from Kirby Star Allies!

This means there are Dream Friends from every main-line Kirby game!

When playing as the Three Mage-Sisters, you can switch between the three characters at will. Unlike Rick & Kine & Coo, who switch around depending on which technique you use, these three ladies are each their own person in this special Dream Friend trio. To unlock them, you have to fulfill certain conditions in the game…

And that brings the Dream Friend total up to 13!

Each one can play all modes except minigames, so I hope you’re looking forward to this new update!

Jambuhbye, then!
