Mario Kart 8 Deluxe becomes Nintendo’s best-selling game ever

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has taken the crown as Nintendo’s best-selling game ever.
As we found out earlier this week from the company’s financial results, the racer has sold 61.97 million units. The only title that technically sold more than that is Wii Sports at 82 million units. However, since that was a pack-in with Wii in some territories, it’s not quite the same.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is by far the best-selling game on Switch. The next closest is Animal Crossing: New Horizons at 45.36 million. In case you missed it, you can find the latest million sellers list shared this week here.
Don’t forget that the original Mario Kart 8 was also the best-selling title on Wii U. For that version, sales came in at 8.46 million copies. Combined with the Switch edition, the total is just over 70 million – a pretty significant number.
