Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope character guide: Edge
Nintendo Everything has created a series of character guides for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, looking at the best skills to acquire, party members to use with them, and Sparks to give them to maximize their potential. This is a guide for Edge.
One of the game’s new characters and the only playable Rabbid not based on a character in the Mario franchise, Edge joins your party on the first planet, and will be the first new character you acquire. Her Stormblade Technique functions in much the same way as Mario’s Hero Sight and Luigi’s Steely Stare, only across a larger area, which can make it very good for crowd control on some maps. Despite this, Edge is something of a late-bloomer as a character, and only reaches her full potential later in the game when you have the Skill Prisms necessary to invest in her costly abilities.
What skills are best for Edge?
Your priority when upgrading Edge should be in the Technique branch of her Skill Tree, to improve the potency of Stormblade. Put one Skill Prism into Stormblade Damage so that you can unlock Additional Stormblade Charge, and then when you can afford it, unlock Mountain Stance for the 50% damage reduction it provides. After this, you can invest in Edge’s Weapon branch for damage boosts, but as soon as you acquire three more Skill Prisms, refund what you have put into her Weapon branch and put it into Extra Dash instead. Edge’s best skills are unfortunately very expensive, meaning that if you wish to use her from the beginning, you may need to spend a lot of time investing and re-investing as you acquire more Skill Prisms to make the best use of her. Your end goal should be to fully invest in Extra Dash, as well as acquire Critical Dash and Dash Increments Movement.
Who are the best party members to use with Edge?
If you use Edge from the beginning of the game, Rabbid Peach will provide invaluable support with healing, as the range or her Stormblade ability is quite short unless you upgrade it, and her dashes are very expensive considering that she joins you early in the game and Skill Prisms are a very scarce resource at that point. Long range units like Luigi and later Bowser can also provide good support for Edge without getting in the way, and if you would prefer to have her dash and retreat, Rabbid Mario can be helpful for drawing enemy attention away from her, as he will always be on the front lines.
Which Sparks are best for Edge?
Using Glitter to pull enemies towards Edge before using Stormblade is a good strategy, especially early in the game: Stormblade’s range is quite short, and costs four Skill Prisms to fully upgrade, which would be better spent elsewhere initially. Until you can reliably heal yourself with dashes, Regenesis may also be a good option for Edge if you don’t wish to rely solely on Rabbid Peach or healing items. Edge joins your party with Exosphere, and this is not a bad Spark to keep her equipped with either until you unlock Mountain Stance, or if you would rather forgo that to unlock Extra Dash sooner: on higher difficulties and certain maps this may even be advisable.
Once you invest in the movement branch of Edge’s Skill Tree, giving her a Spark that will apply a Super Effect with each Dash can be extremely beneficial, although the best choice would be Vampdash: not only does it increase move ability damage, it also heals the user a proportion of the damage dealt, which removes the need for Rabbid Peach healing support or items.
