Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope Ubisoft account

Original: Those that intend to play Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope when it launches on Switch next month will apparently need to a Ubisoft account in order to play. That information comes straight from the official Ubisoft Support Twitter account.

Twitter user mattybicky asked if a Ubisoft Connect account is required for the game. In response, Ubisoft Support said “you will need to associate your Ubisoft account with the Nintendo one or, if you don’t have a Ubisoft account, to create one.”

The full message reads:

“To be able to play Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope you will need to associate your Ubisoft account with the Nintendo one or, if you don’t have a Ubisoft account, to create one. It won’t take long and, believe me, it will be worthy!”

As fans will recall, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle did not have any need for a Ubisoft account in order to play and like the original game, Sparks of Hope is focused on the single-player experience. Some will ultimately find having to get involved with a Ubisoft account to be an inconvenience.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope will release for Switch on October 20, 2022. Read our hands-on impressions here and find a ton of new gameplay here.

Update: Ubisoft has clarified that its original message is incorrect. We’re told: “A Ubisoft Connect account isn’t mandatory for players to play to Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, contrarily to what has been wrongfully mentioned by a previous Ubisoft Support tweet.”
