Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 receiving post-launch updates to fix issues
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 won’t be perfect when it releases this week on Switch and other platforms, but the good news is that Konami has confirmed plans for post-launch updates. It seems that all of the games will be touched up in one way or another to address issues.
For Metal Gear and Snake’s Revenge on NES, players may find that the timing of some subtitles doesn’t match up with the audio, but a patch will address this. Different visual options will also be added, including a CRT scanline filter, and the ability to change the pixel aspect ratio.
Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 will be receiving a new option as well. Later on, the games will add the ability to switch between windowed and full-screen mode.
The original Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3 will be patched to fix bugs. Konami has already confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 2 may slow down significantly during certain cutscenes. It sounds like this will be addressed with a patch to reduce processing load.
Another issues has also been spotted with a slight delay to the timing for a certain visual effect. Once again though, it will be patched to match the original game. Also coming down the road is the ability to switch between windowed and full-screen mode from the options menu on the title screen.
As for Metal Gear Solid 3, typos in the subtitles for the original England, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain (EFIGS) EU versions will be fixed. The timing for a scene and background music to trigger in a certain cutscene is slightly different from the original game, so that’ll be patched as well. Lastly, the option to switch between windowed and full-screen mode will be added here as well.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 launches for Switch on October 24, 2023, and we’ll let you know when the post-launch updates begin to go live.
