A classification listing for Metroid Prime Remastered has some fans wondering if the game was ready to go as early as 2021.

Now that the title has been released, it has been added to the USK database. The classification date is listed for July 2021. We’re now in February 2023, so it goes without saying how that was quite a long time ago.

Rumors of Metroid Prime returning on Switch persisted over the years. However, since it never materialized, many had wondered if it was something that was actually in development.

There has been talk as of late that Nintendo sometimes “sits” on games – meaning development on a game finishes, and the Big N picks and chooses the most optimal time to release it. In these cases, they could be ready to go months or perhaps even a couple of years in advance.

There was recently similar discussion surrounding Fire Emblem Engage. In the game’s rating once again from the USK, that one had a classification date of August 2021, despite the fact that the launch happened in January 2023.

Metroid Prime Remastered is currently available on the Switch eShop. Those looking to secure a physical copy can do so on February 22.
