Mio Memories of Orbit

As part of today’s Nintendo Direct, Focus Entertainment announced MIO: Memories in Orbit. The game launches in 2025 for Switch.

Mio comes Douze Dixièmes, the developer behind Shady Part of Me. The new title is a sci-fi odyssey that features a mix of Metroidvania and a unique art direction. You’ll play as a robot named MIO while exploring and conquering the Vessel, a gigantic, maze-like spaceship, to save it from extinction.

We’ve got more information in the following overview:

You are MIO, a nimble robot with extraordinary abilities. You wake up in the Vessel, a spaceship drifting aimlessly in space. This enormous technological ark, whose initial purpose remains unknown, lies now as a field of ruins, overgrown with lush vegetation and machines gone rogue.

Delve into the heart of this technological labyrinth to revive its lost memories. As you guide MIO through the vast expanse of the Vessel, you’ll unlock new powers and abilities to explore new areas, face off against a fearsome bestiary, and uncover the ship’s secrets.

Unveiled exclusively at the latest Nintendo Direct, MIO’s first trailer reveals gameplay as intense as it is varied, immersing players in a decadent, hypnotic world of stunning scenery. More information on the game and its gameplay will be announced in the next coming months.

John Bert, Managing Director of Focus Entertainment Publishing, said of the announcement: “Focus teams are delighted to work once again with one of the group’s internal studios: Douze Dixièmes. Its creative talents demonstrate the same inventiveness and unrivaled artistic flair that enchanted us on Shady Part of Me, that will shine through again in this metroidvania with its unique atmosphere. We can’t wait to reveal more about MIO and its world, and to see players immerse themselves in this magnificent experience.”

Douze Dixièmes team added: “As a partner studio of Focus Entertainment, we’re excited about this new collaboration. As a publisher, they’re always present to support our ideas and help us iterate on the metroidvania formula. After several years in development, we’re very proud of what MIO: Memories in Orbit can bring to the genre, and this first trailer proves it. We can’t wait to show our players even more over the coming months.”
