Digital Foundry has taken a look at all versions of Mortal Kombat 11 – including Switch – in its latest technical analysis. Switch gets a good amount of the attention, with the game’s resolution, frame rate, and more inspected.
Below are the main points:
– Character select screen uses basic images of the characters rather than 3D models on other consoles
– Image quality reduced compared to other platforms
– Docked: range of 1280×720 to 960×540 when pushed
– Bigger drops take place during fatalities / opening moves
– Most gameplay is 720p
– Portable: range of 854×480 to 682×384
– Lower resolution textures, drop in quality of volumetric lighting and ambient occlusion
– Motion blur removed
– Dynamic shadows are in tact, but are lower resolution
– Actual character geometry mostly kept in tact
– Character hair and alpha have a lot of stippling
– Not much difference between docked and portable play
– Mostly 60 frames per second with the occasional stutter
– 30 FPS cap during cutscenes like other platforms
– Mostly 60 FPS during handheld play, but with a few bigger drops
