Nine consumer groups in Europe team up for investigation into Switch Joy-Con drift
There are a few different lawsuits in motion when it comes to defending against Joy-Con drift with Switch controllers in the United States. Now, however, there’s significant news coming out of Europe as well.
Today, the Dutch Consumers’ Association asked for Switch owners to report any problems they have experienced with their Joy-Con. It has also teamed up with consumer organizations in Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, and the European umbrella organization BEUC. A joint investigation has moved forward to see what can be done to protect consumers from Joy-Con drift.
Consumers ‘Association director Sandra Molenaar said:
“We are making the call because we are getting signals that the Switch will not last as long as consumers might expect. In addition, options for repairing the console are limited, forcing consumers to make expensive replacements. We use the responses to determine what further action to take.”
The Consumers’ Association said that it hopes having complaints regarding Switch Joy-Con drift from nine European countries will prompt Nintendo to implement a change. They “will jointly go to court” if nothing comes from discussions.
