2DS XL Famicom Super Famicom mini repairs ending

September 24: Nintendo announced today that repairs for the 2DS XL, Famicom Mini, and Super Famicom Mini are coming to an end in Japan.

An exact end date wasn’t provided. However, that’s because it all comes down to how long spare parts are available. Once Nintendo runs out of stock, that’ll be it for repairs. Devices will no longer be accepted once those parts are used up.

Nintendo apologized to its customers for any inconvenience caused by repairs ending for the 2DS XL, Famicom and Super Famicom Mini. Customers are also advised to send in their devices as soon as possible if they’re considering doing so.

Nintendo made similar announcements for its other products in the past. For example, last year, the company said that it was winding down on Wii U repairs and that service would be ending once it ran out of parts.

As for the west, Nintendo hasn’t clarified what its plans are. Today’s announcements were made strictly for the Japanese market. We’ll keep you updated if we receive any new information.

September 5: Nintendo has officially announced the depletion of its New Nintendo 2DS LL parts inventory, and therefore the termination of the console’s repair service in Japan.

The company has added the handheld to the list of which product repair services have ended, alongside the previously mentioned Famicom and Super Famicom Mini. You can see Nintendo’s full statement, as well as the list of discontinued repair services here, and here.
