Nintendo informs Princess Peach and Toad voice actress that she’s been recast, statement shared
Following yesterday’s report, it’s now been made official that Princess Peach and Toad (plus Toadette) voice actor Samantha Kelly has been recast.
Fans were the first to discover the change after examining the credits for Mario Kart World yesterday. Now Kelly herself has confirmed the news. According to a statement shared on social media, she was only informed about the move yesterday.
Kelly’s full statement reads:
“Thank you for so many years of friendship and joy. I’m sad that it’s over, I truly would have wanted to voice Peach and Toad forever. Nintendo let me know yesterday that they decided to recast these roles. I’m grateful that I got to do these voices for so many years. Peach and Toad are such strong and beautiful characters that I pray they live forever no matter who voices them. So much love.”
Also revealed yesterday is that Takashi Nagasako, who previously voiced Donkey Kong, has been recast as well. It now seems that Koji Takeda, who voiced Donkey Kong in the Japanese version of The Super Mario Bros. Movie., has taken over the role.
Nintendo has been making a number of moves to the Mario cast over the past few years. This includes Charles Martinet moving on from the voice of Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi having been replaced by Kevin Afghani.
