Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has shared a few comments about Switch 2’s fast start. Furukawa was speaking at a press conference following the release of the company’s financial results.

Through September, Nintendo Switch 2 is already confirmed to have sold over ten million units worldwide. Furukawa said that the system’s start “has far exceeded our initial expectations.” Nintendo decided to expand its production capability after seeing how well the launch went.

Nintendo’s results also saw a forecast increase in which the company anticipates selling 19 million units by the end of the fiscal year. Even if Nintendo surpasses that, it has a system capable of meeting additional demand. Furukawa said: “I want each and every customer to have the opportunity to purchase one, and we aim to exceed our current sales plan.”

For the most part, Nintendo Switch 2 hasn’t been too difficult for consumers to get their hands on. However, Japan is currently an exception. Furukawa said the following of the stock situation: “There are regional differences, but overseas, consoles are now available in stores. In Japan, the situation is improving, though it’s still not at a point where customers can buy one anytime.”

Speaking about the performance of Nintendo Switch 2 in general, Furukawa noted that “it has had an exceptionally strong start, even compared with past gaming consoles.” The company seems to be interested in further boosting sales both in Japan and overseas heading into the year-end shopping season.
