Nintendo will not be releasing any new hardware this year. That’s according to Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, who shared the news during a financial results briefing just moments ago.

Switch Lite released last September. But rumors have persisted that another Switch model could be on the way, which would potentially provide some sort of boost in power. Furukawa’s comments suggest that we won’t be seeing that until 2021 at the earliest – if at all.

Furukawa said during the briefing:

Regarding Nintendo Switch, we believe that it is important to continue to communicate the appeal of both Nintendo Switch systems and expand the installed base. Please note that we have no plans to launch a new Nintendo Switch model during 2020.
