Nintendo Switch 2 had highest launch month sales for any gaming system in U.S. history
Nintendo Switch 2 set a U.S. sales record in June, as it achieved the highest launch month unit sales for any video game hardware in history. It’s also the fastest-selling platform in the country.
The new device sold 1.6 million units last month, according to the latest data from Circana. PlayStation 4 was previously the record holder at 1.1 million units sold. Nintendo Switch 2 was June’s best-selling video game hardware in both units and dollars.
Nintendo Switch 2 provided a boost the gaming market as a whole last month. Consumer spending in both hardware and accessories reached new all-time June records in the U.S. June hardware spending rose by 249 percent year-over-year to $978 million – the previous high was $608 million in June 2008.
We previously heard that Nintendo Switch 2 sold 1.1 million units in the U.S. over less than a week. It was also reported that it was the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware in the United States.
