Nintendo Switch 2 game-key cards

Physical games are still happening on Nintendo Switch 2, but something new is being thrown into the mix with what is being called game-key cards.

Nintendo says that these are a new cartridge type that don’t have data. In order to play them, you will need to download the game from the Internet like a digital version. The cartridge will still be needed to play. It goes without saying, but you’ll need enough space available for that download.

What games will be offered as game-key cards on Nintendo Switch 2? At least so far, it looks like we have confirmation about two games. Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster and Street Fighter 6: Year 1-2 Fighters Edition appear to be first up. Both have listings in Australia seemingly confirming this.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster will be available at Nintendo Switch 2’s launch on June 5 and we have more information here. Street Fighter 6 is also planned for the same day – we’ve got the news here.
