Nintendo Switch update 20.0.1

Nintendo has released another Switch firmware update with version 20.0.1.

This follows version 20.0.0 which arrived earlier in the week. With version 20.0.1, Nintendo is looking to address issues involving error code 2206-1015 that was preventing some users from starting their devices. We reported on the situation here.

Those that are affected by the issues can start their Nintendo Switch in Maintenance Mode. This can be done by holding down the volume up (+) and volume down (-) buttons, then pressing the power button to turn the system on. After this, select system update.

Here’s Nintendo’s full notice for version 20.0.1:

Fixed an issue where Error Code: 2206-1015 sometimes occurred when restarting the system after updating to system version 20.0.0.

  • If you’re encountering the error, update your Nintendo Switch console in Maintenance Mode.

This is one of the quicker turnarounds we’ve seen from an update. However, it’s understandable. With version 20.0.0 essentially rendering the system unusable for some, a quick fix was certainly necessary.
