– Daemon was impressed with the show overall
Metroid: Other M
– Other M was set aside in a dark room, private area
– Other M demo was about a half hour
– Game starts with CGI representation of what happened at the end of Super Metroid, which Daemon really liked
– Voice acting not so good
– Matt thinks the baby stuff was sort of weird
– A lot of stuff from the E3 trailer was playable
– You need to get authorization to use different weapons in the game
– Daemon loved holding the Wiimote horizontally
– Point at screen to go to first-person: Daemon thought it worked well, Craig worried about it
– Can’t strafe
– No movement in first-person
– Can lock on in first-person
– Turning can be slow (viewpoint)
– Press release described it as a 2D platformer, which Daemon believes is misleading
– Running towards the camera, you can’t see all enemies
– Will probably have a learning curve
– Some nice Metroid-style puzzles
– Craig believes it’ll be a good game
– Good example showing differences between Western and Japanese developers
– Matt likes Samus’ voice acting
– Suit design different than the Prime games, Samus thinner
– Comes out in June, Craig will be reviewing it
– A lot of subtle piano music
Super Mario Galaxy 2
– Daemon surprised it’s coming out so soon, but Craig isn’t
– A lot like the original, but very good
– Matt had a lot of fun with it even though it’s not mindblowingly new
– Game has some tough levels
– Yoshi plays well, pointer mechanic works
– Greg hated the camera in the first game, but is looking forward to the sequel
– Has more 2D side-scrolling levels
– E3 demo had about 9 levels
– There is orchestrated music
– One level featured a version of one of the songs from Super Mario World
– Comes out May 23
Photo Dojo
– Came out in Japan last year
– Craig excited about it
– 2 player mode, fight one on one (on same system)
Monster Hunter 3
– Greg really likes playing the game with the Classic Controller Pro
– Controller comes bundled for $59.99, $49.99 without
– Can get a demo at GameStop for free starting March 8
– Pre-order to get 500 points
– Game has done pretty well in Japan
– WiiSpeak support, text-chat online
– Play online for free
Art Style: Rotozoa
– Daemon liked it
– Reminded him of flOw on the PS3, Snake on the arcade
– Control small organism, has two halves, goobugs floating around
– Touch red goobug with your red side, it’ll add to your tentacle, quota to reach in each level
– If you touch wrong color, tentacle gets broken off
– Daemon described it as a quirky, modest game
Art Style: light trax
– Was Dot Stream on the GBA in Japan
– Visually awesome
– Craig likes the game, but it’s hard to understand
Super Meat Boy
– Very cool game
– Coming out this summer
And Yet It Moves
– Play as a nameless mascot character
– Platformer
– Can rotate the screen
– In Wii version, rotate at will instead of 90 degrees on the PC version
– Matt enjoyed it
– Very interesting game
– Looks nice, plays well
Max and the Magic Marker
– Matt likes this one as well
– Another platformer
– Draw on-screen items, which become geometry
– Matt finds it more interesting that Drawn to Life
– Sort of like Drawn to Life with physics
Rage of the Gladiator
– Punch-Out!! set in Roman battle coliseum
– Looks pretty good for a WiiWare game
– Team made Helix
– MotionPlus support
– Bosses come out, one by one
– Learn weak spots, knock them down
FlingSmash
– Developed by Artoon
– Great concept, cool style
– Kind of iffy in gameplay
– Sort of like racquetball
X-Scape
– Made by Q-Games
– Has StarFox influence
– Flat shaded polygons, lighting effects
WarioWare: D.I.Y.
– Greg likes the creation aspect
– People will need to play the tutorial
– Will be able to download content
– Make your own mini-game from scratch
– Tap-based games
– WiiWare version has original content
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
– Continuation of Sands of Time
– More sand powers
– Craig gives it a thumbs up
– Tailor-made for Wii
– Completely different from PS3/360 versions (different design, story)
– Comes with SNES version of Prince of Persia
– Coming out in May
Sin and Punishment: Star Successor
– Awesome, intense
– Straight-forward action
– Craig can’t wait to play it
– Online leaderboards
– Can build up combo system

– Matt likes the music in Other M so far, has hints of old songs
– Nintendo did not allow footage of Galaxy 2 or Other M
– Screenshots of Other M don’t do it justice

– Nintendo not allowing videos of Galaxy 2/Other M probably related to building hype
– Galaxy 2 demo had a mix of open worlds/smaller planets
– Can recharge missiles/health in Other M, it’s slow
– Other M demo music sounded orchestrated, but Matt isn’t sure
– It’s easy to register friends in Monster Hunter 3
– Can walk in all directions in Other M
– Not sure if Galaxy 2 will have a hub, but Craig is sure it will
– Out of the DSi shooters, Daemon would choose Metal Torrent, but X-Scape is cool as well
– Monster Hunter 3 demo probably won’t have any online
– Daemon not so sure Nintendo will announce a DS successor at E3 now
– Matt says it’ll be shocking if Zelda Wii is released this year, although there is a chance
– All of their big guns would be out in one year
– Craig wouldn’t be surprised about Zelda Wii coming this year
