Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on Switch has already outsold GameCube release
Based on the latest financial data from Nintendo, it turns out that sales of the Nintendo Switch version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door have already surpassed the original GameCube release.
Total sales of the GameCube edition stand at 1.91 million units. To compare, on Nintendo Switch, the game managed to hit 1.94 million copies already. That number is based on data collected through September 30, 2024, meaning that the feat was accomplished in only four months.
Sales of The Thousand-Year Door are slowing down, which is somewhat expected for an RPG. The game only sold 180,000 copies in the most recent three-month period on Nintendo Switch, so it may struggle to reach two million. Still, Nintendo is likely happen with its performance overall.
Super Paper Mario remains the best-selling entry in the series at over four million units. Rounding out the rest of the list is The Origami King at 3.47 million units, Sticker Star at 2.49 million, Paper Mario N64 at 1.37 million, and Color Splash at .87 million.
