Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door ROM leak

Not long before it’s official launch, there’s been a ROM leak for the new Switch version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

It’s never a good thing for Nintendo when this happens, but it’s perhaps not quite as significant as previous leaks. After all, we’re talking about a game that has technically been around for twenty years. Remember that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door originally launched for the GameCube in 2004. It’s still a spoiler-heavy game though, so keep that in mind while being online.

Stemming from the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door ROM Switch leak, we do have a couple of tidbits. Reports indicate that it’s a full remake using Origami King’s engine. Also, for those of you out there interested in codenames, this one goes by “GogoS”.

Early leaks and Switch games tend to go hand in hand. High-profile including Super Mario RPG, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Pikmin 4, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom all went through the same thing. Unfortunately, these situations may be unavoidable, especially if some fans gain early access because a retailer offers up an early copy.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will be officially available worldwide on May 23, 2024.
