The Pokemon Company issues statement after anime theme song was included in DHS video
You may have seen some unexpected Pokemon headlines this week after a video was posted by the Department of Homeland Security which featured the theme song from the Pokemon anime. That same clip also had some interstitial cuts of the show and mock-ups of trading cards for some of the individuals arrested.
Many who saw the video on Monday have shared various thoughts about the situation. Now, however, we get to hear from The Pokemon Company directly.
In a statement, the following was mentioned:
“We are aware of a recent video posted by the Department of Homeland Security that includes imagery and language associated with our brand. Our company was not involved in the creation or distribution of this content, and permission was not granted for the use of our intellectual property.”
The Pokemon Company did not share any further information. It did not say if it will be pursuing legal action, which is what some have called for.
Meanwhile, if you happened to miss the video posted online this week by the DHS, you can find that here.
