Pokémon GO adds Remote Raid Pass and other options for players to play at home
Niantic have announced that they are implementing more features to allow Pokémon GO players to play from home during the COVID-19 pandemic including a new ‘Remote Raid Pass’ item which allows players to find nearby raids without having to physically travel to their location.
The item will be available in the in-game store and will act similarly to the Raid Pass available in the game currently, allow a limited number of players to participate in raids. In the future, players will unfortunately see a decrease in their attack power when using the item however.
Niantic stated:
At launch, Trainers battling in raids remotely will have the same attack power as Trainers who are able to battle at the raid location in person. At a later time, the attack power for Trainers battling remotely will be reduced. Afterward, a Trainer battling at the raid location in person will have higher attack power than a Trainer battling remotely.
Niantic have also announced that players will now receive a bonus research task and gifts from partner Pokémon instead of having to use PokéStops. Alongside these additions are adjustments being made to Incense, Lucky Eggs and Star Pieces.
