The World's Greatest Pikachu quest guide Pokemon Legends Z-A

For those playing Pokemon Legends: Z-A, we have a guide specifically for The World’s Greatest Pikachu quest.

Most of Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s side quests are self-explanatory. Technically, this one is too – but despite being centered around a fairly weak Pokemon, The World’s Greatest Pikachu is actually one of the tougher missions you’ll take on. You’ll be able to accept this mission in Rouge Sector 1’s battle court, in which you’ll need to fight and defeat a grade-schooler’s Pikachu who he claims is the strongest in the world. Indeed, there’s one problem here: this Pikachu is Level 66 and has a Light Ball, and you can’t obtain a Light Ball of your own until you finish this mission. Here’s how we cleared it.

Unfortunately, you will need a Pikachu at around Level 60 or higher in order to clear this quest. Fortunately, there’s a good starting point – catch the Level 42 Alpha Pikachu in Wild Zone 6 as your base. It’s on the roof of Cafe Bataille, and there’s a nearby ladder you can use to get up. From there, give Pikachu the Lucky Egg held item and keep in your party while you mow through battle zone trainers. If you have any EXP Candies, you can also feed them to it. Once it’s at around Level 60, you might want to use some Protein and Carbos to increase its Attack and Speed a bit. Fully EV training this Pikachu isn’t necessary, but it definitely won’t hurt. It also needs to know the move Dig.

Once you’ve prepared, enter battle with the world’s greatest Pikachu and sit there and wait. The second you see the word “Dig” appear above its head, have your own Pikachu use Dig. If done correctly, yours will take no damage, but it will hurt the opponent. Do this a few times and you should be good to go. The world’s greatest Pikachu does have a few other moves it uses during battle – namely Protect and Iron Tail – so if it whittles down your Pikachu’s health with Iron Tail, you can quickly go into your satchel and heal it with a Hyper Potion.

As a heads-up, don’t release this Pikachu after you clear this quest. There’s another one called Alola, Raichu! that requires a high-level Raichu to win, and it just so happens that using Dig there is optimal too. I’d recommend evolving this Pikachu so you don’t have to train up another one when you get around to clearing that quest. When you do, the trainer will ask to trade their Alolan Raichu for your Raichu – so you may even want to have a weaker Kantonian Raichu on hand to trade for it just in case you don’t want to give up the one you trained.

We won’t have guides for every side quest in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but The World’s Greatest Pikachu is one we’ve seen some players have trouble with. Understandable, since not everyone adds a Raichu to their team. In the meantime, stay tuned for more Pokemon Legends: Z-A guides coming soon.
